FHKAM(Psychiatry), DPM Currently, Chairman, Hong Kong Advisory Council on AIDS;Formerly, Chair Professor, Dept. of Psychiatry, Chinese University of Hong Kong;Head, Shaw College, Chinese University of Hong Kong;President, Hong Kong College of Psychiatrists; and President, Pacific Rim College of Psychiatrists visited the hospital with his wife in May 31,2006.Mr.ZOU Yi Zhuang MD.Ph.D,the vice president of the hospital, Mrs. XU Dong Mei, the director of Nursing Department, Mr. WANG Jian , the director of Education and Research Department and other persons had an interview with professor Char Nie CHEN and his wife. Mr. ZOU Yi Zhuang, the vice president introduced the general information of this hospital. Professor CHEN and his wife then have a short tour including a psychiatric ward, the Behavior Therapy Ward, the office of Chinese Psychiatry Online, the Psychometric Center and the Suicide Research and Prevention Center. After the tour, professor CHEN had a talk with professor Philips, the director of Suicide Research and Prevention Center a medical expert from Canada who working in Beijing Huilongguan Hospital more than ten years. Professor CHEN applauded the ward conditions and beautiful scenes of the campus.
During his visiting, professor CHEN gave a speech about epidemiology of anxiety disorder to the staff of the hospital. On the speech, professor CHEN mainly talk about the epidemiological difference of depression disorder and anxiety disorder between western and eastern world and present his point: Chinese has lower occurrence of depression disorder and higher occurrence of anxiety disorder. On the speech, he also analyzed the etiological factors of these disorder such as family structure, social culture and education style. Finally, professor CHEN had a wide range communication on clinical problems with the audiences. After speech, Mr.ZOU, the vice president gave an honor certificate to professor CHEN.
